More than 200 volunteers joined with Earth Conservation Corps AmeriCorps members during the 2007 King Day of Service to remove debris from Pope Branch in Washington, D.C. An estimated 10,000 volunteers served through more than 80 projects in and around Washington D.C. They joined hundreds of thousands of Americans who participated in the 2007 King Day of Service, sponsored by the Corporation for National and Community Service.

Hundreds of AmeriCorps members and Senior Corps volunteers from across the nation took part in service projects as part of Make A Difference Day on October 23. In Washington, D.C., more than 300 people assembled for a massive landscaping and grounds cleanup at the Frederick Douglass National Historic Site in the city’s Anacostia neighborhood.

With Sunday March 20th marking the first official day of spring, this week's post includes photos from gardening and landscaping projects from around the country.
