Washington, D.C. – The Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) will conclude “AmeriCorps Week” with a day of service in Rockaway, NY. This event will not only honor the effort of relief workers so far, but will highlight the work that still needs to be done.

The future of the United States hinges on an educated workforce that's equipped with the skills they need to meet the challenges that lay ahead. AmeriCorps members across the nation are working to ensure that our students are up to the task.

AmeriCorps Alums: Leading by Example

For many AmeriCorps members, finishing a term of service is not an ending, but the beginning of a life dedicated to public service and improving the lives of others.

More than 800,000 people – a number close to the population of San Francisco – have served in AmeriCorps since its inception in 1994. You don't have to look far to find achievements that highlight how AmeriCorps alumni have leveraged national service experience to become leaders in fields such as education, science, community development, and the private sector.
