Fiscal Year 2015

Fiscal Year 2015 Budget

Service is fundamental to who we are and how we meet our challenges in America. As citizens, we recognize that we have responsibilities as well as rights; that our destinies are bound together. As President Obama said in his 2014 State of the Union address, “Citizenship demands a sense of common cause; participation in the hard work of self-government; an obligation to serve to our communities.”

The Consolidated and Further Continuing Appropriations Act of 2015 provides $1.054 billion for the Corporation for National and Community Service and its programs, a $5 million increase over last year.  The budget invests in CNCS programs that engage millions of Americans in building community solutions to our most pressing challenges. It funds AmeriCorps, Senior Corps, the Social Innovation Fund, and other programs at current levels, bolsters the critical role of Governor-appointed State Service Commissions, and supports our focus on impact, accountability, and evidence.

Since its creation 20 years ago, CNCS has worked hand in hand with thousands of local partners to improve lives, expand economic opportunity, bolster civic and faith-based organizations, and involve millions of Americans in service to address our nation’s most pressing challenges. CNCS engages more than five million Americans in service each year at more than 60,000 locations across the country, from large cities to rural communities.
